Description:
Carvedilol is an antihypertensive medication which is used to lower the blood pressure and also used to treat heart failure. This medicine is not recommended for children and in patients with diabetes and lung disease.
Uses / Indications:
Heart failure, Hypertension, Impaired left ventricular function - Myocardial infarction.
Interactions / Warnings:
Contraindicated in Bronchial asthma or related bronchospastic condition, Cardiogenic shock, Decompensated heart failure requiring IV inotropic therapy , Hypersensitivity, including Stevens-Johnson syndrome, anaphylactic reaction, and angioedema, to carvedilol or any component of the product , Second or third degree atrioventricular block, Severe bradycardia, if no pacemaker present, Severe hepatic impairment, Sick sinus syndrome.
Side Effects:
Common Cardiovascular: Bradyarrhythmia , Hypotension, Peripheral edema Endocrine metabolic: Abnormal weight gain, Hyperglycemia Gastrointestinal: DiarrheaNeurologic: Dizziness Other: Fatigue Serious Cardiovascular: Atrioventricular block Dermatologic: Erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Toxic epidermal necrolysis Hematologic: Aplastic anemia Ophthalmic: Intraoperative floppy iris syndrome Respiratory: Status asthmaticus (rare )
